On a Sunday

by Anne

Last night after the "game" S(h)ara and I (plus some other friends as well) went to Fat Bob's for some delicious tasty food and darts and it was wwwaayyy more fun than that "sporting event".

I can take away 2 positives from last night:

1. Mark Mancari scored his first NHL goal!! Yay!!

2. I did really well in sales

3. ............ if we had been so inclined we could have gone to Level and booed Derek Roy in his face. Even though he scored a goal, it would've been symbolic.

Speaking of symbolic, apparently changing the name of this blog had no effect so I decided to resort to other tactics around the house to express my displeasure.

I have a standings tracker. It hangs over my bed.

I keep track of the divisional standings.
But where is the slug?

He's in the corner, thinking about what he's done.

But my symbolic rage wasn't finished there.

The other day, my Mom went on a field trip with the folks at the workshop for developmentally disabled adults where she works. They went here:

Delish.

They have many fun shaped cookies, including several Sabres' jersey cookies. The choices were Miller, Rivet, Paille, Pominville and:

She opted for Vanek because he's leading the NHL and the one I hate the least at the moment because of that very reason.

However, in spite of the fact that he hasn't done anything to personally offend me recently I was forced to sacrifice him in hopes of catharsis:

I didn't feel that was quite enough...

... so I ate his arm.

I feel a little better.

This 30-17 Bills score at the half is also helping my mood immensely. Trent is looking pretty DARN swaggery, whoever just said that on 97 rock, I wasn't paying attention to who it was.

Aaaaaand as I was uploading photos the 2nd half started and Trent ran in for his 2nd TD of the game. OWWWWWW!!!! That's a 20 point lead, baby!

I'll either write later declaring my immediate plans to move to Chicago or about how much I love Buffalo and my strong desire to make babies with Trent Edwards. WOOO!!!

  1. Putting the Slug in the corner... that's hysterical! And that cookie looked yummy! I hope people show up to the tree lighting tonight... I think the fans are getting mad.

    BTW... welcome back.

  2. I love that the slug is in the corner. Maybe, you know, he'll reflect on life a little, hear that the Bills are doing well against a pretty awful NFL team (like they're supposed to do, right?) and then make it up to the fans on Wednesday by winning, damn it.

I hope by eating the Vanek cookie's arm doesn't mean that he suddenly won't be able to score goals anymore. ): DON'T JINX HIM!

  3. You put that slug in the corner! That'll show 'em!

And wasn't the final score of that Bills game faaaabulous? Because I think it was.

  4. What a naughty Buffa-slug! He deservedly deserves to be in the corner.

Pickles tried to cheer you up by getting a goal and an assist last night. Just, FYI.

Oh! I was inspired by your other post to look for a Canucks calender on eBay and I almost emailed a seller to ask if "Big Bear is in the calender". I think they would have been a wee bit confused.

Surprisingly doing that made me feel a lot better. I was thinking about going to the lighting but I probably won't now.

    Ha, thanks.

I'm hoping the Bills will inspire the Sabres to stop sucking at life.

I'm thinking if I eat the entire cookie I might be able to will him to do things, like score goals and punch people in the face. Hmmmmm. This could be a good time.

Punch people in the face?! In this case, please eat the entire cookie. I would like to see him get in at least one fight before I die.

Ha, I was writing a "Yay WCBs!" post and lost interest. I'll probably do a "WCB Weekend Update" tonight. I totally saw Pickles give me a shout out with his rosy cheeks.

Yessss!!! I've been searching high and low... for about 5 minutes yesterday. I have papers to write! Haha.

  11. Yo this blog is so hilarious and informative. I can't believe I'm related to someone who not only knows a ridiculous amount about hockey, but writes about in such an entertaining way, including a smattering of very amusing pictures that fit perfectly every time. I feel so ashamed. I jokingly said I should start a Bills blog, but it would pale in comparison... (pail? pale? segue?)
