The Dallas Stars are placing Avery on waivers Monday and the Rangers have committed to claiming him. He's playing on their AHL team, we all saw this coming.
This is so great for so many reasons:
- We get interviews with the "reformed" Avery
- John Tortorella is about to become Sean Avery's new coach. Tortorella was extremely vocal about his opinion that Avery should be out of the league forever and ever
- Shanahan and Jagr, both often credited with keeping Avery in check are gone from the Rangers line-up
- Last year the Rangers were a better team with Avery in the line-up. However, this is a different Rangers team.
- Glen Sather is a moron. If this helps the Rangers this season I'll be totally shocked
